The hand painted original primitive design on this wood plate features a hilly saltbox village on a winter night around the border of the plate, and part of the Robert Frost poem, “Stopping By the Woods on a Snowy Evening” in the center, accompanied by birch trees, a snow covered fence and a couple of rabbits.
The words in the center of the plate read,
“The woods are lovely, dark and deep, But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep.”
The houses are different colors, and are flanked by snow-covered trees. A stream runs though a field between two of the houses, a snowman is in one yard, and a dog house stands in another. Snowflakes drift through the moonlit sky.
The plate measure approximately 11.5 inches in diameter, and is sealed with matte varnish and has been signed.
